Our Plea to You:
Can You Help Us to Make This Year's
the BEST Fundraiser EVER?
It's that time of year again-- when we start making
plans for our fall auction and fundraiser. This year's event will
take place on Saturday, September 29. Starting now, we are collecting
donations of new items of all types for all types of people. In
previous years, we have been able to auction of everything from
sporting goods (like bicycles, kayaks) to electronics (television
sets, ipads), to tools, gift certificates (all sorts of businesses),
to original artwork, and plenty of supplies for animal lovers
and their pets.
This auction is our biggest fundraiser of the year,
and supports our work as an animal rescue and assisted therapy
center. Your donation of money or new items is tax deductible
and greatly appreciated.

Join us for Summer
Horse Camps

We are now registering students for Summer Horse Camps. Our 5
day horse camps are modeled after our popular Basics-In-Training
(B.I.T.) course. Susan Macauley, our Director and Head Instructor,
leads girls, boys, & adults ages 11+ in a hands-on educational
experience that includes training, riding, mounted and unmounted
exercises, as well as classroom instruction, guest presentations,
and demonstrations. Students get plenty of hands-on time with
horses daily-- from grooming to ground work to riding.
No previous experience is required, and registration is open
to all levels of riders on a first-come, first-served basis.
Choose between July 16-20 or August 6-10 (or join us for both!).
Camp hours are from 10am-3pm, with additional hours available
for a fee.
The experience is priceless, but the cost per week is $375, with
a $100 deposit due at registration. Please bring your lunch, and
we'll provide snacks and beverages. Call for a registration application
860-873-1895. |
Horses Seeking Sponsorship,
Foster Homes, or Adoption-- Can You Help?
The number of PMU foal still seeking adoption is down to three.
We are very pleased to know that good homes have opened up for
the others. Now we are asking for help in providing for the remaining
PMU foals and the other rescues at the farm. Please remember that
your contributions to the farm are tax deductible. Even better,
you will know that you are helping to support the lives of animals
that are thriving because of your help. Remember that every dollar
helps.

Ray
of Light Programs
One important mission at Ray of Light Farm is to
provide a valuable resource for the communities of the CT River
Valley and beyond. We have something for everyone, and we are
now enrolling for all of our popular programs.
Tiny Trotters: a four
week program designed for preschool-aged children. For one day
each week, children spend an hour visiting with and learning about
the animals at Ray of Light. Each day includes a craft project
and snack, and ends with a pony ride! Safety is a priority at
Ray of Light, so all activities are closely supervised. We also
ask that children be accompanied by a parent or care-giver. See
our calendar to find the dates of
the next Tiny Trotter Session and call us at 860-873-1895 to registe
r.
Riding Instruction: a
team of professional and certified instructors is available to
help students (ages 8 and up) from novice to advanced dressage
to develop their riding skills, ride balanced and centered, in
a true partnership with the horses. See our equestrian
page for more detail. Call us at 860-873-1895 for lesson times
and availability.
B.I.T: in the Basics in
Training program, our head trainer Susan Macauley leads students
through a progressive series of short courses designed to train
student to effectively use groundwork exercises including round-penning,
lunging and long-reining to build the foundations necessary for
both human and equine to advance to riding and higher level equestrian
pursuits. See our equestrian page
for more dates and times.
Filly Night: a fun girls'
night out with horses! It's a women's group riding lesson followed
by a potluck dinner and social. Upcoming dates include Thursday,
March 31 and Tuesday April 12. View our calendar
for more future dates. Space is limited and advance registration
is required. Please call us at 860-873-1895 to register.
