Anna Twinney to Hold a Foal Handling Clinic, Seeks Local Foals
Last
fall, we were fortunate in having Anna Twinney come to the farm to work with
Bonnie to provide the first handling experiences for our Premarin rescues of
2009. Honeybrook and Petie are two of the many foals gentled that November as
Anna filmed her latest (yet to be released) DVD, Foals in Training.
This year, Anna will return to Ray of Light, but instead of a film crew, she
is inviting students to be a part of the experience. Reach Out to Horses is
offering the opportunity for students to participate in a 6-day clinic in November
to learn the Reach Out to Horses foal handling basics and create a foundation
of trust and compassionate leadership for foals.
Anna is also welcoming weaned foals under 9 months old to participate in the course. These foals will receive the benefits of her expertise and gentling for the small cost of a few nights' board.

The Foals Have Progressed Beautifully under Anna Twinney's Tutelage
The
Premarin foals of 2010 have completed their first week of school! Along with
a lot of important skills like leading and picking up feet, all have all learned
to accept the compassionate leadership of their handlers and to appreciate positive
reinforcement for their efforts. They are learning that boundaries exist when
working with humans, but that they can trust that humans to treat them fairly
and with kindness.
Many of these foals are still in need of forever homes. If you have the facilities and expertise to care for young horses, please contact us to meet the foals in person.

A FIRST OF IT'S KIND!
The Complete Foal Handling Course with Anna
November
15th - 20th, 2010
Ray of Light Farm, East Haddam, CT
(Applies
towards ROTH Holistic Horsemanship Course Graduates
becoming ROTH Trainers Continuing Education)
Gentling foals can be some of the most important and rewarding work you will ever do. Working with PMU foals, knowing that you have helped save them from Canada's feedlot and given them a new chance for a full and happy life, is more rewarding than you can even imagine.
Last year Frank Weller and the Equine Angels saved 7 foals from certain death, 5 of which were filmed during a week long ROTH training program. The 4-part DVD set, Foals in Training, scheduled to be launched in only a few short months, depicts the lives of the foals from their arrival in trailers through to their first touch, their first halter, their first step. This unique, comprehensive tool gives you the opportunity to travel down the road as we gentle these beautiful souls.
We want our foals to feel safe, and their experiences with humans to be positive, memorable ones. These first important lessons stay with them for the rest of their lives and so the training must be done right. Acknowledging the "whisper" is crucial, recognizing the "try" is an art.
And
now it's your turn to join Anna for a week of
fun, friends and foals.
You will have the chance to understand, first-hand, the power of compassionate leadership and positive reinforcement while creating the clarity in boundaries and balance.
Learn
the same uniquely designed and tested program
Anna herself uses to start foals for basic handling!
Spend 6 fun-filled, info-packed days learning the Reach Out to Horses methods and work with a new group of PMU foals, starting these young lives on the path towards a gentle, trust-based partnership with humans.
Under Anna's tutelage you will work directly with the foals, and learn how to teach them:
And as a bonus you will join Anna at Ray of Light Farm in picturesque East Haddam, CT - the same location at which Anna filmed the Foals in Training DVD Set. This is an ideal facility to learn these life-changing techniques.
Space
is extremely limited, only 2 spots left!
Participation is on a first come first serve basis so sign up today!
Total Cost: Only $1200.00 for the entire 6 days of training.
For more information
or to reserve your spot contact Anna at info@reachouttohorses.com

DO
YOU HAVE A FOAL YOU WOULD LIKE TO ENTER INTO THE CLASS?
If you have a foal, who is under 9 months old and has already been weaned,
and you would like to experience first hand the powerful effects of the Reach
Out to Horses Foal Handling methods then let us know.
WE
NEED FOALS!
We are currently looking for foals to include in our week of Foal Handling. Participation in the clinic is not required and all training is free of charge (just a small boarding fee that goes to Ray of Light Farm).
No matter the color, or the breed, we welcome them all! Little or no handling is ideal, but if behavior modification is needed we can help there too. This is THE perfect class to enroll your youngster. Learn all that which your foals need to know at this age, which in turn makes your life easier.
If you are interested, contact Anna at anna@reachouttohorses.com to arrange for your young horse to attend kindergarten and get the solid foundation on which you will be able to build that trust-based partnership that is true horsemanship.
