Mark Your Calendar for the May 16 Open House and Premarin Birthday Party

You are invited to join us as we commemorate the birthdays of some of our youngest horses, the Premarin rescues. This is a party for Honeybrook and Petie, who are celebrating their first birthday, Jany Rose, Homer** and Peanut Butter**, who are turning two, and Georgia, Lucky, and Ima, who will be three years old! Wear your party hats and join us at our all-day Birthday Party and Open House on Sunday, May 16, 2010 (rain or shine).

All are welcome when the farm opens at 10:00 am; there are no reservations or fees for this event. Refreshments will be served throughout the day (farm hours are 10-3:00). A guided farm tour will be given at 1:00. Then, a festive Premarin parade begins at 2:00, showcasing our Premarin rescues and other Ray of Light horses seeking adoption. Another guided farm tour will be offered after the parade/demonstration.

Do you want to bring your favorite Premarin a birthday gift? Check out their gift registries here (Shown below), or find something (for them or for yourself) at the Save-A-Buck Tack and Gift Store, which will offer an all-day 20% discount.

Premarin Gift Ideas

The Premarins are like other growing horses, their major need is for hay, hay, and more hay! All of the birthday boys and girls have hay at the top of their wish list, but other important things include farrier and veterinarian visits, blankets, halters and lead ropes, grooming supplies, grain and treats. Can't decide on what you'd like to give? A donation (in any amount) for their care is always appreciated!

Petie is celebrating his first birthday! He is growing so big--his number one wish is for more hay! $30 of hay will supply him for one week. He also needs farrier visits ($25 each), spring shots ($140), and is starting to save for his--gulp!--gelding surgery. After all that, he may need some TLC and treats.

Honeybrook is also turning 1! She appreciates a good pedicure, and for $25 she can have her feet done. She also needs hay, and for her, a $20 supply of hay will last all week. Her spring shots are also due ($140). And because she likes being groomed so well, she's including a rubber curry brush and soft brush to her wish list.

Janey is mostly looking forward to all the petting and attention she will get on her birthday! But she also likes to eat hay, and about $30 worth of hay will last her one week. Her farrier visits cost $40 each, and she will also need her spring shots ($140).

Peanut Butter will be 2 years old! Like most growing boys, he really goes through the groceries. He eats about $35 worth of hay each week, $20 worth of grain per month, and whatever treats he can get. He didn't want us to mention it, but like the others, he will need spring shots ($140) and occasional farrier visits ($40). ***

Homer is also turning 2! Homer also appreciates a good meal. His number one wish is for green grass to eat and plenty of hay. Homer thinks it would be a good idea to plant an apple tree at the farm, and perhaps fill the garden with carrots. Can't get fresher than that! He will also need spring shots ($140) and farrier care ($40 per visit).

*** Newsflash--Peanut Butter and Homer have been adopted! We are so pleased to know that they have found a loving forever home. And it is great news that they will stay together. Unfortunately for us, they will not be able to celebrate their birthdays at our party. We wish them the all the best at their new home!

Lucky will be 3! Lucky is so happy to be surrounded by friends, that he would like for people to do something nice for the non-Premarin horses, donkeys, and mules at the farm, too. Lucky needs hay ($35/week), spring shots ($140), and farrier visits ($40 each), but he will donate any other gifts to the farm so that all the animals can benefit!

Ima is celebrating her third birthday! Ima requires a lot of hay--she eats about $40 worth each week. She will also need her spring shots ($140) and regular farrier visits ($40 each). She's really enjoying all her work with the trainers, and loves her new saddled look. Like a teenager discovering fashion, Ima is interested in trying on some new tack.

Georgia is turning 3! Georgia is very athletic, and her wish list reflects the needs of any good athlete: plenty of nutritious food ($35/week for hay), a good set of running shoes ($40/farrier visit) and regular physical check-ups ($140 for spring shots). But Georgia also likes to look good while performing; so just for fun, she would like a new brush for her mane and tail.
